Five years before the events in Geas, Kiel is a young apprentice to the village healer Gory. Her best friend, Omen, comes to her because his younger sister has developed a sudden mysterious fever.

Journey to Black Mountain was made over the course of one week as part of the Verge3 release competition in early 2004. It placed 3rd (out of seven or eight entries). Everything is done by me except that some of the art was done by tulokyn: the drawing of the phoenix, and the hand-drawn original sfor the portraits (I turned them into pixelart after the fact).
It isn't especially pretty, nor even fantastically great as a game, but given that it was built in a week on an engine that had not seen an official release prior to the competition, I am still fairly fond of it. It also laid the groundwork for Geas by getting me to develop characters and a world that I wanted to more fully explore.
